Volunteer's Needed
...to build interpretative signs
-
Islands Trust has given us some money to produce some interpretative signs about shore birds. We need some volunteers and wood donations to help build frames/structures for these signs. Please contact Jennifer who will be talking to the marinas about places to erect.

News from Mike: The bird count is still happening for those folks who are interested and Jennifer is always happy for company. We also have interpretative signs in the work for placement at the marinas. Thanks again Jen. The mooring plan is more or less being supported by boaters in the bay and hopefully we will be able to keep the central area clear for boat and float plane traffic as well as anchoring needs. It seems the boaters guide was generally well received over the summer and I've had a couple of good comments. The shoreline cleanup did not happen this year due to some family challenges for some folks but hopefully we can do something in the spring. Any volunteers to organize it?
More Bird News The waterbird survey was carried out all summer by Carie; in October Karen Barry of Bird Studies Canada gave a wonderful talk on "How Citizen Science Can Assist in Bird Conservation" using data from the Silva Bay Waterbird Survey at the Maritime Seminars. Karen is planning a workshop in Silva Bay in April May 1st on Beached Bird Surveys.
